Privacy

Household Reserve is a planning tool for a household's food and water reserve. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It covers the pilot site at householdreserve.com.

What we collect

The estimate runs in your browser. The people, months, and household figures you choose are not sent to us. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell personal information.

If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 records page views and basic device information: the page path, the referring page, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser and device type. We do not enable Google Signals, advertising, or remarketing.

If you join the founding list, we collect:

• the email address you submit;
• the household size shown in the estimate at the time you submit;
• the date and time of the request.

Our hosting and security providers also process standard request data, such as IP address, user agent, and the page requested, to deliver the site and stop abuse. Cloudflare Turnstile processes browser signals to tell a person from a bot. Turnstile may set a strictly necessary cookie. To rate-limit the signup form, we store a short-lived SHA-256 hash of the requesting IP address; we do not store the address itself for this purpose.

Why we collect it

• To send one note when the founding plan is ready, and to honour the founding price.
• To stop spam and automated signups.
• To keep the site and the signup list secure.
• If you accept analytics, to understand which pages are useful and improve the calculator.

How long we keep it

We keep a founding-list entry until you ask us to delete it, or for 24 months after the last contact, whichever comes first. Rate-limit hashes are deleted after 24 hours. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short security window. Backups may take longer to expire.

Analytics data is retained according to the GA4 property settings. We set the shortest retention the property allows and do not use the data for advertising.

Who we share it with

We use Cloudflare for hosting, the database, and bot protection, and an email provider to receive messages sent to our address. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) processes page views on our behalf. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the service and its users.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising cookies. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 may set first-party cookies (for example, _ga) with a lifetime of up to 90 days. Cloudflare and Turnstile may set cookies that are necessary to deliver the site and to verify that a signup comes from a person. Blocking them may stop the signup form from working.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 only after you accept the analytics banner. The measurement ID is public; Google processes the data on our behalf. We do not enable Google Signals, advertising, or remarketing, and we do not use analytics data to build an advertising profile.

You can decline analytics and still use the calculator and the founding list. To change your choice, use the button below; the site will ask again on the next page load. You can also install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete the information you submitted, and you can object to our use of it. Email hello@householdreserve.com. We may need to confirm that the request comes from the address on the list. If you are in California or another region with specific privacy rights, the same address reaches us.

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time with the button in the Analytics section. We will stop loading Google Analytics on your next page load and remove the GA cookies we can identify.

Children

The site is for adults. It is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Where the data is processed

Our hosting and database providers process data in the United States. If you access the site from another country, you understand that the data may be transferred there. If you accept analytics, Google processes analytics data under its own safeguards. We use providers that maintain appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Security

We use encrypted connections, access controls, and a limited set of service providers. No system is perfectly secure; if we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify you as required by law.

Changes

If we add payments or a different email provider, we will update this page before those changes go live. The date at the top shows the current version.
